Reunions - 2024
Getting together - reunion-style!
Ever-expanding families and aging relations are both great reasons to get together. Both Debbie's and my sides of the family decided that 2024 was the THE year to get together. Since we were in Salt Lake for the summer, having the Hein-side gather at Debbie's brother's cabin in east central Idaho was a bonus. We love heading up to the cabin and went a few weeks early to help prepare for the crowd and then enjoyed a week with Debbie's extended family. And, before we heading back to San Antonio in the fall, we returned one last time to enjoy the cooler weather and do some final projects before winter set in. Cabin fever for us is NOT feeling cooped up but rather feeling refreshed by some off-the-grid time.
The Helgren clan took a different tack and gathered at a B&B in Indiana on the Tippecanoe River. A different venue but familiar faces. The challenge was remembering all the names of spouses and grandchildren (Mindy has quite a brood!) Sam was the center of attention by the younger set as he was initially getting in some relaxing fishing which morphed into regular fishing lessons—the pied-piper of fisherman. We had loads of fun and even got some exercise walking the roads through the corn fields of Indiana.
